I certainly wouldn't buy a Ford based on all these "negative" posts:
Ford troubles
Other Ford troubles
Yet more Ford troubles
Do a search on MyFord Touch, or ANY Ford engine for that matter. Plenty of sour grapes.
I've owned about 20 vehicles, most of which were Mopars, but 5 were Fords. Out of all of them, the Fords have been the most troublesome. My current F150 dropped an engine. In my almost 40 years of driving, it's the only vehicle I've owned that's cost me thousands to repair. And that's more than once. However, in my search for a new tow vehicle, I'm seriously looking at Ford (and RAM) because they have the features I really want, and I realize that they're not as bad as the "detractors" would have me believe, despite some of my own experiences. If I was in the market for an SUV, that GC would be at the top of my list.
How could anybody ever buy a new vehicle if they listened to the Negative Nelly's and their favorite Youtube vids.
Sounds like you need to dump your Ford?
I too had an 97 Ford, F250 Light Duty, same as the F150 basically. It had the 5.4 in it. Probably the 2nd most problematic rig I owned I guess. The coil packs were a PITA, needed a few changed along with the spark plugs. Ultimately the before stated problems cause the cat to go out if not addressed immediately. Engine and Tranny were solid when I sold it with 175k on it, I suspect more coil packs will be in order though.
