EGR deletes are becoming harder and harder, and more expensive, to come-by. The EPA has put a tight grip on the companies making the parts. It has literally turned into a delete black market.
EGR sucks, no 2 ways about it, but the current software for the Cummins is pretty good. My buddies 07 6.7 G56 DRW 4x4 gets 16-18 around town and 12ish with his Lance 10xx.
I know several people who are deleted and towing, moderate loads, and no issues. It just turns it into a 5.9 basically. MCC and Smarty are the tuners they use.
Just weigh the cost vs the reward. Are you after more power, lots comes with that, or just less EGR? Towing heavy is when the emissions actually do their least, since it's not as needed when being worked.
