Had an issue with the 1st-2nd gears on steep, slow descents with our 6 spd Ecoboost. Another gear in there might have helped.
What kind of "issue?"
Not enough engine braking in second gear with trailer going down long, steep, windy road with many 20mph hairpin turns. Ended up over-heating the trailer and truck brakes.
At times, first gear would keep the speeds down perhaps too much, or would get close to over-revving the engine otherwise. Perhaps gearing in between first and second would have worked better.
