- NancyLongExplorerFor the best sound reproduction, however, you should choose component speakers. Component sets are an especially good choice for persons that enjoy listening to rap or rock music.

Any recommendations on replacement? I'm assuming outdoor need to be marine grade?
Polk makes decent speakers, and their car audio speakers are marine certified. They aren't too expensive either. Most car audio stuff you'll see is pretty low end in the speaker world, but then again you're not recreating theater quality sound, you're just looking for a decent upgrade. You can spend a few grand on just speakers, a set of polks will suit you well and be affordable. I believe they even make low profile speakers to fit in tighter areas.
Don't buy anything bose, absolute garbage for the price. Low end equipment at a premium price...
I second the Polk Audio suggestion (and as a musician for the past 50+ years, you don't want to know what musicians say about Bose...). Anyway, I replaced the interior ceiling speakers in our unit with Polk Audio coaxials. They don't change the quality of the output from the cheap stereos they put in RVs - nor will you get impressive bass response from a 5-1/2" speaker, but they are quite an improvement over the really cheap speakers that came in the travel trailer. The highs are good enough that my aging ears can actually understand the dialogue in a DVD movie and hear the cymbals and "S" sounds in music. I spent about $60 on-line. (I don't use the outside speakers, so didn't bother.) - Second_ChanceExplorer II

Ah Yes... the obligatory loud music response which has nothing to do with the question.
External speakers and loud music are a big no no where I camp.Headsets are all we all need. - APTExplorerI just brought a portable bluetooth speaker. It sounds better and has far more uses like taking to the beach and controlling from my campfire.
- goducks10ExplorerOur Northwood Fox Mountain came with a decent stereo system, for a trailer anyway. It's got a built in sub woofer, 4 speakers in the living area, 2 in the bedroom and 2 exterior. When watching movies or listening to XM radio in the trailer it sounds pretty decent. The exterior speakers are a joke. Better than our last TT, but still low on the acoustic chart.
- myredracerExplorer IIThe standard OEM speakers they typically install are super basic and super cheap and have awful frequency response. It's like 1950s technology. I replaced the interior ones in a previous TT with 6" (or so) 2-way ones and it was a huge improvement. (I still have the old ones if anyone wants them for the cost of shipping, lol.) Some nice 3-ways would be nice. Recess mounting depth should not be a problem, but if you have one of the new arched ceilings, the weight could be. KZ said they could not provide even LED puck lights in the 2014 models that have arched ceilings due to the weight. Speakers can be heavy.
Our TT has 4 speakers in the living/kitchen/dinette area. Not sure why they do that as 4 there aren't really much of a benefit. I'd rather have 2 there and another pair in the bedroom. Like many things, I don't think RV makers put a lot of thought into actual functionality and use of things.
One thing I don't like about exterior speakers is that sometimes they put them too close together to get a stereo sound. If I were to replace ours, they'd need to be much farther apart, and with a fiberglass exterior and sandwich type wall construction, that would be hard to do. And then there'd be the old speakers to decide what to do with. - Aluminum_SidingExplorerI'm going to replace my speakers. Also, I have a 3rd channel a, b, (c) I'm going to add a portable 10" sub with a built in amp. My plan is to have a plug under the trailer. When we get to camp I'll set the sub just under the trailer on the patio side. It'll be portable so I can just unplug and put it back inside. It'll add a good range of low base to the system. Not going to blast out the neighbors with hip hop or anything just want to add some definition.
- TrevorLExploreri upgraded our 4 interior speakers from 4 inch single cone to 6.5 inch 3 way's made by Scosche. not high end by any means but they sound a million times better and mounting depth was perfect. i painted the removable grills white to match my cieling and they look great also. got the 4 speakers at walmart for $60 plus tax. im also upgrading the stereo/CD player to a car stereo/cd/dvd unit with an LCD screen and bluetooth. im also going to install a 100w x4 channel amp along with two 32 inch LCD TV's connected to the new head unit and a new HDTV antenna..
here are the speakers
