- EyetattooExplorerI upgraded my system with Rockford speakers, car audio speakers inside and marine grade outside. The marine grade speakers we not as deep as the car grade so they took up alot less space in the cabinets.
- SpeedogomerExplorerPolk has a 4" speaker on Amazon
- PAThwackerExplorerI just tote along a sirius boombox.

Hard to go wrong with Infinity, they've always made a pretty good product. Some of them are a little bright for my ears but what do I know.
Inside I used Infinity 6001 6 1/4" round coax with directional tweeter. Flush mount in the ceiling where the OEMs were. I also have a powered sub that came with the set up so the system sounds good now.
Outside I replaced the factory round speakers with PolyPlanar MA-905's. The woofer fit in the existing cutout so I didn't have to make any mods to the fiberglas sidewall to get these to fit. I also added a 200W power amp with speaker level inputs in front of this pair of speakers and they really crank the sound out now. I can run the OEM Jensen Head Unit at max volume and these speakers will crank with no distortion. It could always use some more bass, but anything with a bigger woofer has a mounting depth deeper than the wall thickness on the TT, so no go unless you are planning to box them out on the inside. Not an option for me due to where the factory mounted them.
And no, I do not use these in campgrounds....the power in the system is there for fall beach trips with nobody around.
interestingly, I find the Jensen head unit to be pretty good....although will upgrade to something better when it dies. I like that it has a 12v DVD player built in, very handy for boondocking.
If you want to get some more bass outside, Pioneer makes a series of shallow mount drivers. You would probably need an amp to get some power through them to sound good.
Good to hear that at least one Jensen headunit is still working :B j/k It seems like a lot of folks have problems with them.
I just auditioned a pair of these little Faital Pro full-rangers for a project I'm building, a bike mounted boom-box. They really have a great sound, are waterproof, and are efficient. At 91db, you only need a couple of watts to drive them so fit a battery powered application well. They might be really good as a ceiling mounted speaker in an RV or mounted in a gang for a sound bar. - DatacomGuyExplorerI'm a huge Polk fan, so i'm in. I need to measure mine - i guess my question was more about size. Without measuring, it seems like the speakers are around 4".. which, i believe the only aftermarket replacement that i know of would be the 3.5's..
Those that have added an amp.. Where did you find the speaker lines to wire to? I'm interested in this, have a few 4-channel amps laying around.. - BurbManExplorer IIInside I used Infinity 6001 6 1/4" round coax with directional tweeter. Mine sound very tinny.. very dull.
Any recommendations on replacement? I'm assuming outdoor need to be marine grade?
Polk makes decent speakers, and their car audio speakers are marine certified. They aren't too expensive either. Most car audio stuff you'll see is pretty low end in the speaker world, but then again you're not recreating theater quality sound, you're just looking for a decent upgrade. You can spend a few grand on just speakers, a set of polks will suit you well and be affordable. I believe they even make low profile speakers to fit in tighter areas.
Don't buy anything bose, absolute garbage for the price. Low end equipment at a premium price... - Passin_ThruExplorerBose
- thomasmnileExplorerNah, cheap system and I know it. Long as I can hear what's coming out of the speakers.......
