Do you look at the vehicles gauges? You know temperature and maybe fuel level? The idea is to be able to quickly glance at a gauge and get the needed info.
But you can't quickly glance at something like the tire pressure display with 4-6 tires and get any meaningful data in just a glance. You can, however, glance at the gauges and see where they are, one of the reasons gauges work better than numbers.
This is the type of thinking that people who are texting use: it only takes a second to glance at the screen, which usually turns into several seconds. Which is too much time away from the road.
