I just noticed our new camper doesn't have a range hood. Can't believed I missed that. We love to cook when camping and fry up bacon, fish etc. The range hood on our Lance wasn't all that powerful but it helped. We have a 14" vent with fan about 4 feet away and I'm hoping that will pull out smoke and smells. Anyone else have this issue and how's it working for you? Thanks.

Most coaches that have a microwave/convection are now set up to vent internally, so you always need to run the roof vent fan to exhaust to the outside.

I do not cook all that often inside when camping. Almost all is done outside on a Coleman or warming up in the microwave. But, for the few rimes I do use the range I will use the Fantastic fan and open the window that is adjacent to the cooktop. It seems to work fine for me.

We use our fantastic fan, and it works fine.

This is precisely why I have a no meat/fish/grease rule in the camper. Smelly/greasy things go outside on the grill. Other foods are fine inside.Internally vented fan arrangements are a joke to me.:R

I always cook bacon on the BBQ grill no smell in the camper and it appears to taste better too.

You could just use your fan to exhaust any moisture/smoke, but if you'd rather pull the battery from your smoke detector ... I guess that works. ;)

Same camper as you without the vent as well. I pull the battery from the smoke detector every time we cook breakfast inside. Being in the hall with the pantry, it's ultra sensitive to heat and smoke.
That being said, no problems at all. We have the 3 burner sealed cooktop and deleted the oven offering a large drawer under the cooktop.

I never heard of using a stove without a range. I think that would be stinky, especially when the pig is on.

Our Outfitter (and I presume every pop-up TC) has no rangehood. Never been a problem as we simply open a window and run the roof vent if needed.

I never found the stove vents in our other RVs too be all that effective.

It's all about having everything you need and nothing you don't. FWIW, I've had my Host 10 years without a range hood/vent and never missed it.

Those that "need" one must burn a lot of food or are kind of messy at cooking.

I get it, just seems odd that the basically most expensive, most amenities camper doesn't have that feature. Be like going and buying a new BMW and it only has a am/fm radio....
