We do a fair amount of cold weather/winter camping, and while a slide-out is nice, we prefer not to hassle with the snow/ice problems that can buildup on the slide.
We haven't owned an Arctic Fox, but every slide that we've had (Keystone and Jayco)has allowed a certain degree of cool air to enter through the seals.
Lastly, we really want a trouble-free unit. I haven't personally experienced problems with awnings or slides, but we feel more comfortable knowing that we've eliminated some possibilities of problems.
