Arctic Fox 811 short box in long box?

Folks, new to this site, but not new to the RV world. I've seen tons of knowledgeable people on here so I figured I would throw out a question. I have an AF 811 TC that has the generator and storage boxes so it's the SB model. I am upgrading to a LB DRW GMC in the next few months. Can anyone tell me for sure this camper will fit in the DRW? I know there will be a gap and I will have to deal with that until I can jump up to the LB TC. Hoping the current factory swing jacks will clear the duals and the TC will ride fine minus the gap to the cab. I don't want a megacab Ram SB Dually. Looking to the future with a LB. Thanks in advance for the help.
  • Welcome to the forum, hdspringer!

I’m sure others will chime in but carrying a camper designed for a shortbed truck on a longbed is most probably not a good idea. The main problem will not be carrying the weight but rather the location of the camper’s center of gravity relative to the truck’s rear axle. The rear weigh bias will lighten the load on the truck’s front wheels and could make handling dangerous.

I know this is not what you wanted to hear and maybe I’m being overly cautious but I woudn’t do it. I’d hunt for a longbed camper.

    Best,

    Bill

Hoping before purchase? Or confirming before purchase?
