We did the same thing, but we ordered the 6" since we use a mattress topper. Anything thicker and we wouldn't be able to open the closet doors.

We also have a memory foam at home so moving between home and camper is easy. than our daughter moved into her own apartment and we got her one of these.
They come folded up in a box. we opened the mattress box on the camper bed, aimed it and let it inflate.
