The CP4 in the Powerstroke is a mushy turd at best, and the way Ford has handled warranty work for it is shameful. Everybody knows it, just admit it and move on.
It isn't a personal failure to admit that everything you own isn't the best of the best.
oh I don;t think it is the best, lots of better ones, but it is the first think I have been impressed with since the 7.3. when I bought this I did go looking at all three and it was a older gmc that I wanted to buy but the dealer was being a pain so we left. all I am saying is I have never ran into anyone or even heard of a friend of a friend having issues with the cp4 pump in the ford, I even called my cousin this morning to wish him a merry christmas and his company has 45 of them and he has never had a cp4 issue, so to me its all hear say on the internet. but I have had several other issues which luckely were all fixed by warenty except one but that was partialy my fault and a bad design that if I lived somewhere where it never gets cold would have never happened.
so is my truck the best, maybe now after the 5 warenty repairs as its been three years and not an issue ..... now.... haha but it was a lemon when I bought it I think. I would have been very upset if I didn't buy the extended warenty.

I personally know someone who had a HPFP failure on a 2012 F-350, and Ford would not warranty the repair. He needed a truck for work and ended up trading it off while it was in the shop for repairs for a gas Super Duty, and of course took a bath on the trade. So it's not just stories on the internet.
I was a die hard Ford man for many years (my grandfather was a sales manager for a Ford dealership in the prairies), and had great experiences with them (the best was my 1996 F-250 7.3L) until my 2003 F-350 6.0L. It started to give multiple problems, and I didn't trust it to go far from home with the fiver so it was time to move on. I looked long and hard at the Ford 6.7L, but issues were cropping up with them at the time and I just simply didn't want to be a guinea pig again. I bought the truck in my signature and have been very happy. By the way, I had a hard time unloading the F-350; I could not sell it privately and most dealers were not at all interested in it on trade.

was it some one who lived down there or in the US? that is the first acount of anyone knowing some one in Canada who has had this issue. we were talking at work the other day and wondering it if had anything with the differences in fuel quality between the US and Canada. I generly find more water in the fuel when I am in the US. the other side of the coin is there was an update for the 2014/15 models and another one for the 2017 model so the 2012 would be the original cp4.
there is a kit for about 200 bucks you can put on and if the cp4 goes the only thing you have to worry about is the cp4. I don't know if its being sold by scare tatics or if its realy worth it. I may look into it.
ya the 6.0L was the worst of the worst, 6.4 wasnt to much better but it was. I stayed with my 1999 7.3 till I bought this one.
It was here in the Lower Mainland.
