Are you towing with a flatbed?

Greetings all, I'd like to know if anyone has mounted their truck camper on a flatbed, and also has some arrangement for towing as well? It seems that all I'm finding are hitches for regular bed pickups.

I'll also throw out there, that I have a Ford F550 as well, and I suspect that throws another wrench into the works too.

Thanks in advance!

  • Receivers are available for standard frame trucks like your F550. Etrailer is one place that sells them. You can go plug in any year Ford F550 cab and chassis and get a list of recommendations.

Even if you had a flatbed on a pickup truck frame, the receiver bolts to the FRAME of the truck, not the pickup bed.

  • Would I be correct in assuming your question is directed toward a flatbed body that doesn't have a rear drop down area below the axles?
  • I luv the camper on a trailer idea too.

I have the camper on a flatbed and just tow a little 7x14 open trailer with a SxS on it, no problem.

Hitch receiver, 2" was installed on the flat bed with a 22" extension to the trailer due to camper overhang.

I would guess any big hitch place would be able to install anything you need.....
