Check your receiver for a sticker like this one with two tongue weights listed like mine at 600/1000.
Besides the receiver limit, my opinion is that a half ton towing over about 400 pounds TW loses enough front ale weight such that a WDH is beneficial. I recommend one with integrated sway control like Equal-i-zer 4pt or Reese Strait Line
