Will never happen, this is part of the great debate. for the same torque diesel will have 1/2 the HP to the gas, for same HP the diesel will have about twice the torque.
So this is where I get lost in the comparisons, I tow 11,000# with a 01 Cummins with a "Small timing chip"

Stock;
HP 235
TQ 460
W/Chip
HP 285
TQ 610
Likely;
HP 270
TQ 570
Yet I can pull an 11,000# up 6% grades at 60 mph, with a set of 3.55 in 4th gear (direct drive). That is 100 HP less than a new gas 6.2, will they pull the same load up the same grade at the same speed with the same gears??
