It dragged often enough that when I removed it, I had to cut it off. Which wasn't hard, so the security concern is real.
Don't do it is my advice. Put it in the tow vehicle. If you don't want to lift a heavy Gen in and out of the truck, by two smaller ones.
As stated above, the very reason I prefer mine some distance from the RV when in use.
If you mount on the rear of the TT, just make sure it's high enough to eliminate a drag problem.
A Champion "open frame" non-inveter 4000/3500 generator weighs approx. 100 lbs. Not too bad, & pretty easy for two people to mount or dismount, quick & easy. A single 2000 watt inverter type weighs about 45 lbs.
