I had a mount built that holds 2400 watt generator above the tongue, which places them above the LP Gas Bottles. It added about 80 pounds to the tongue weight. I bolted the generator onto the mount with heavy rubber anti-vibration blocks between the generator and the mount. It was fairly loud, so I have a 1" thick piece of styrofoam insulation that stores under the tonneau cover on my truck.
When I crank up the generator, I slide the styrofoam insulation down between the RV and the generator. Its not any louder than a semi idling next to you in a roadside park. Been there two years. I don't use it all the time, but when you need it, you need it.
I have a Hensley Arrow hitch so I haven't noticed any difference in the weight on my tongue.
