REALLY sorry to see this.
If indeed a representative of Northwood said "all of their units are made this way" -I would assume thats the case and would be identical-at least for this model.
As written it sounds like it rolled out of the truck 'because' of the splice failed, I'm having a hard time with that. It IS a pretty sketchy assembly. Only real strength I see is the small block on ear of mount which should have been also glued. Everything else is screws in tension (in wood) though does look like some glue on front edge but no structural tie-in? All that said very few camper mounts will resist the force over a few hundred pounds before failure of some kind. My mounts are considerably more substantial-however enough force to cause the camper to want to 'roll' out of the bed would simply result in more damage to the mount structure.
Pictured mount I could see pulling loose by overtightened tie-downs eventually but I'm curious what was the cause or force that resulted in camper out of truck & on its side?
EDIT: I type too slow- wind plus truck in motion, plus one tiedown already broke.
