An update from 2014. My Wolf Creek 850 is a brand new 2014, and just experienced the same failure. Luckily, I noticed it in my mirror, and suffered no other damage to the camper or truck. It happened while cruising on the highway. (Not off road, etc).
THIS ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN FIXED in 2014's!
Also, interestingly, Northwood says this is NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, as they have no way of knowing what forces were put on the tie downs. He recomended I claim in on my insurance. He also mentioned that the Arctic Foxes are NOT built this way, that they are tied down to the floor and walls.
So I guess my solution is to not buy a Wolf Creek? DISAPPOINTING!
Yes, they have not changed their manufacturing process. I was promised Northwood was changing the wolf creek tie downs to be the same as arctic fox, but found out when I drove all the way from San Diego to Portland that was not the case. 2015 wolf creek reinforced tie down clicky. I would love to know more specific information regarding your failure and pictures. What was the weather like? What tie down system are you using? How long have you owned your WC? How long have you been truck camping? How tight did you have your tie downs? More specific the better.
Thanks and sorry you are having to deal with this. I would have thought northwood would have issued a recall and I am blown away they accept zero responsibility. I sent my story to the ceo of Northwood via email and never received any call or response from him. If Lance had a similar floor plan I would have gone with them in a heart beat. Problem is I don't have a short bed and the 850 is too small for my family.
