mkuzmuk,
Sorry to hear about this. It's too bad you bought a long-bed Wolf Creek 850 for your short-bed truck. I bet you bought your camper at Tom's Camperland. They only sell long-bed WC850s and push them for both long-bed and short-bed trucks. I refused to buy a long-bed WC850 for my short-bed truck because you lose a lot of outside storage. As it turned out, it was the right move because of the tie down issue. You only find it on the long-bed Wolf Creek 850s. Why? Because of the plywood splice on the wings. Due to the side boxes on the short-bed WC850s you won't find a splice anywhere under the wings. A splice isn't needed because the length from the front to the side box is only 6.5 ft. The long-bed version requires a 2 ft splice to make up the difference.
Northwood Mfg also says that you should only use the Torklift frame mounted tie downs for the WC850s. The Happijac has a tendency to pull forward and pull this splice out. Bad design? Yes, but again this design issue is only found on the long-bed version. I've never seen this issue with the short-bed WC850 and I've put mine through the ringer in severe winds all over Arizona and Utah. I also use the Torklift TDs.
Hope you get this settled to your satisfaction.
