I will never discourage challenging thought... What is your view on how the tie downs should be adjusted? What happens if they are under-tightened, overtightened?? If that is indeed a contributing factor to all of these failures, then maybe that's important information to get out.
I'm all about approaching this scientifically. As an overall OCD'ist and engineer, I am 100% positive as to my tightening technique and am anxious to hear if its is incorrect.
