Atwood Jacks

1st I had heard of it.

I had Atwood's on our 1st TC. They were pretty good jacks.

Not exactly old news, fairly recent. Dometic sold, new company simply discontinued. Even parts are becoming hard to get.

Once Lippert is involved...bad things happen....and it never ends well.

Have Atwood on both of my campers and with 16 years of use on camper who scaled 6500lb they still work without any maintenance.
The only problem was dually extending brackets who slightly twisted, probably when unloading heavy camper on slope.
Reading about trouble with other jacks, I can only hope that whatever replacement is, will be similar quality.

Ran across that recently myself when I was looking for jack parts at Panther RV. I was disappointed, but not surprised once I read that Lippert was involved. It’s a shame, because they seem to be a pretty reliable camper jack. You didn’t hear about many problems with them, and I’ve had pretty good luck with mine. There are a few mechanical parts still available, but of course they are even pricier than before.

You can also get some of the electronic parts from GAMA Electronics, who apparently makes them. Just get on their online store and do a search on “Lance”, and you’ll pull up what’s available from them.

I guess Rieco Titans are the only decent option for truck camper jacks now. I’ve never had any myself, but my impression of them is also favorable.

I assume Atwood. I like Atwood Jacks. I don't understand why they quit making them.

All about beans...companies growing by acquisition.
As far as a Lippert option, its happijac which was also absorbed (acquired 2006).

My opinion is also Reico-Titan for replacement.
Lance literature still shows Atwood jacks?

Me thinks this would be a good opportunity for Torklift to get with Marcus Lemonis and buy out the Atwood operation/tooling and get into the TC jack business.

I understand Torklift is pretty small manufacturer and they focus on rare, but expensive items.
Supplying jacks for whole TC industry might not happen overnight.
Still makes me wonder why Chinese did not clone the idea yet ;)
