Probably works the same in all countries but here in the state watch out for "mom and pop" small out of the way fuel stations with the diesel pump out by itself with grass growing all around. You can get very bad diesel and gas from these type places.
Nothing but small towns out here where I live but each one will have a usually a "quick Trip" or "Skid in and peel out" or "gas and cash" type store that sells gas and diesel fuel. Its easy to spot them as all the area dump trucks/cowboys pulling stock trailers/flatbed equipment trailers hauling a back hoe/etc is the place you want to refuel. And of 'course any of the major brands stations along the interstate highways.
Most of our diesel fuel pumps have green handles but in a few fuel stations some folks have said the handle is a different color.
And the biggie is some of our diesel fuel pump handles are indeed green however its "red" diesel fuel or off road diesel as we call it. Sure its cheaper than road diesel but Do not use it. The pump is usually marked for off road use only.
Off-road diesel fuel is sold for use in vehicles and equipment that are not general operated on public roadways, such as those used on farms and railways, in construction, and for electric power generation. It is not subject to state and federal excise taxes that are applied to the retail sales of diesel fuel sold for vehicles generally operating on public roadways. This fuel is dyed red (as is heating oil) to distinguish it from on-highway diesel fuel.
The fine for using off road diesel on roads will depend on the city or county where the incident takes place. It will be higher in some states, such as California. It will also depend on the different set of laws. Some fines start at $10,000.
Again do not put it in your truck.
