Late to the party, but would offer a suggestion what worked for me (twice after a truck was stolen):
I got a combo tank from American Tank in Frisco. Fair amount of $$, but a good product and I really liked the fact that it was entirely separate from the factory tank....it sat in the bed, was wired to one of the upfitter switches and plumbed to the fuel line:with a flick of that switch, the fuel gauge read from the aux tank and the truck fed from that tank. Positive feed, positive info on supply, and worth the $$ in my view. FWIW, I considered it worth the drive from Ewe-stun.
Tank was expensive, but at the time they did the install for free if I went to their factory.
