There are also more options and larger tanks available for the long bed trucks than for the standard bed trucks.
You can go instead with an auxiliary tank in the bed of the truck but you will not save any money going this route. The tank has to be a lot stronger for placement in this location than tucked under the box and inside the frame area. You also lose space in the bed.
They have a direct replacement for my 2015.. Its already under the bed! Titan is a great company to deal with... TOP NOTCH
