Depending on your comfort level you should check on federal laws about fuel tanks. The laws are more lenient for diesel than for gas. However, if you are going to have the tank feed directly into the OEM tank, there are certain quality levels you must maintain. If you are just going to have a separate tank that you pump from it is simpler. Even so, a couple places I saw when researching this hinted at the legality of having a pump nozzle without taking some sort of action to prevent spillage. Bottom line, when you think you have it narrowed down, check your laws. If you look at Transfer Flow's site they have more info on this. Their tanks are expensive because they make efforts to remain completely legal with their tanks and installations. Don't forget, this depends on your comfort level. I doubt you will run into the "diesel cops" but myself, I prefer to know I am legal rather than worrying. I get a bit (some would say unreasonably) anxious about things like that.
