Avalanche/Suburban 2500 with 8.1 towing mpg

I got a 2001 Chevy 3500 ext. cab 4x4 dually, 496, Allison and 4.10 gears... Get an average of 10 mpg running to and from town, 12 to 14 out on the highway and around 9.0 mpg pulling 15000# horse trailer. Doesn't matter if it's down on flat ground into Florida or if I go west into middle Tn. 8.5 to 9.0 mpg towing it's rated max. load. 2001 and 2002 trucks had 340 hp, 455 tq. 2003 and latter were rated at 330 hp. Don't know where ya'll come up with 596 cid numbers and 300 hp, 500 tq. figures.. I bought a 2011 GMC Duramax dually, but still have the 2001 Chevrolet 496!!!
