I was probably more selective on equipment when I was shopping for an 8.1L Burb, but I looked across the whole country. I found about a handful that were worth pursuing. A couple I missed out on, sold quickly. Some were asking more than I wanted to pay. Some were going to cost some more time and money to travel to check them out, vs. buying sight unseen. After about a year, I ended up buying a new one instead.
I think you need to open up the search distance a bit. AutoTempest will probably serve you better for that budget as well, the Craig's List ones specifically.
