The funniest thing is we are all too jaded to believe a story like this, me included lol. Yeah, $13,000 on a $10,000 truck. Ridiculous. At the beginning, it was $4,000 in Detroit for oil pump, 1 injector, oil cooler and some other misc stuff. 6 hours after we picked it up from Detroit mech, all the injectors shatter and blow out of the heads in the middle of PA. Insurance co and PA mechanic blamed it on bad diesel - full of water and dirt proved thru lab analysis. PA mechanic had it for 3 months replacing all injectors, 2nd oil pump, FICM, turbo, fuel pump, hoses, all while we were paying for a rental car and RV storage in the middle of gas country PA ($20/day). 3 times he told us the truck would be ready on Xday, we would drive the 6 hours back from MA where my husband was working only to be told when we got there that the truck wouldn't start, then we'd have to drive back to MA. This was an insurance co recommended shop. We now think he either had no clue what he was doing or was just a shyster. Not only did it cost us $10,000 in lost wages, gas, lodging, RV storage and car rental, but the PA mechanic handed us a bill for $2485 when the truck was finally done for parts over and above what the insurance company approved ($9,000). If we knew what we know now, we would have trailered the truck out to Anthony in MO and he would have rebuilt the entire engine for less. The truck was finally done the same day we were expected in NOLA, so we raced down. We got a few weeks out of it, then dead again. We took it to a local diesel mechanic, the truck sat at his shop for 8 days, never got touched. Guy had no clue what to do with it. That's when I went on the forum. We just had no $ left to spend on this truck and we were desperate. We had been praying for 4 months over this truck and to us, Anthony was sent straight from heaven. Believe or not.
