I might try calling Dometic to see what they want. My past calls to Dometic (refer and Heki skylight parts) have not been very satisfactory. Prices very high, huge shipping charges, long lead times. But maybe the awnings are different.
Most of the aftermarket suppliers start at around 12' wide, same price it if is 2' wide. I measured mine, it is 63" wide and 93" long. I might just do what you suggest and shorten it. To get it off the roller requires drilling out the rivets on the cap, but not that big a deal.
