Most of the aftermarket suppliers start at around 12' wide, same price it if is 2' wide. I measured mine, it is 63" wide and 93" long. I might just do what you suggest and shorten it. To get it off the roller requires drilling out the rivets on the cap, but not that big a deal.
Just take the roller off the side posts and take that in the cord /fix end is at the TC end.
