I really like getting the power from the fridge 12V. That method works out really well for us if we chose that way. I also bought a 16' extension cable that goes between the light strip and the control box so I could theoretically run from the light strip down the fridge roof vent in behind the fridge. This would mean I wouldn't need the junction box at all.
Does anyone see any problems with running the lights this way? I'm a little leery about splicing into the fridge 12V line. What is the 12V fridge line actually doing?
To me, having a cable laying on top of the roof and going down a vent, just somehow seems bad. Either the cable will flip around going Dow the highway, or you tack it Down with something. Depending on what you use could cause you roof problems, like I would not use glue or tape, however some of the 501 stuff you use to seal vents on the roof would be good. Then what about the heat from the vent? I'm not sure how hot it gets when the frig is running from propane, but it could be a caution point.
