Awning New Installation

Has anyone installed an awning on a truck camper? I have the awning rail already installed for the slide out awnings, but I would like to remove the slide out awning and install a full 10 foot manual awning.
Any help would be appreciated.
  • Thank you for this post 97psdhost. I would like to add a rear and side awning to my Lance 1010 so right away I subscribed to this thread. I am curious on how one would choose a brand of awning? Is there good quality companies and not so good quality companies?
  • You can just add another awning rail up near the top of the camper, then add an awning to that and keep your slide awning, that's how my Lance came from the factory
  • Thanks for the photos. They showed me what I was looking for.

Yes there is a concern about the awning hitting the slide out. I was planning on leaving the roller tube for the awning to rest on. I am also going to have to fabricate a plate to move the swingout jack forward about 4 inches.
  • I installed a rear awning.

I am trying to understand how you would operate an awning from the same rail that the slide-out awning uses. When the slide-out is out, the top would interfere with the awning, quite possibly wearing holes in the awning fabric.

  • Yes, we did that a while back. We use it all the time. Here is the link to some pics of how we did it. Sorry they are posted out of order.
