baby it's cold inside

New 2016 travel trailer with a DSI Atwood water heater.I press the button on panel inside coach to activate spark and I hear water heater igniting. I goes on until I suppose the water is heated and then does burner go off or does it stay on? Do I press DSI switch ever time I need water heater to work? By the way, we are getting no hot water inside. Advise please
  • Make sure the water heater is NOT in bypass mode.
Make sure the water heater tank is full of water.

Determine whether it's actually lighting, or is it just trying to light ? Go outside and stand next to it. Have someone inside turn the button on. Outside, you should hear the igniter click several times, then if it lights, you hear the whoosh/low roar of the burner.

If it lights, it will run until the water is hot. Then it will shut off, and only come on again when the water cools off.

Your water heater may also work on 120V electric, in addition to, or separate from the propane.

Again, make sure the tank is full of water. Do NOT attempt to heat it, either propane or electric, empty of water.
  • water heater is not in bypass mode and is hooked up to city water. it is lighting i see the burner flame and it stays on then flame goes out about 10 minutes later. you tube video says it may be thermostat?
water is a teeny tiny bit warm but that's it.

Shoot us a picture of the plumbing at the water heater. I'm guessing you are blending cold water into the hot side of the lines going to faucets.
10 minutes of run time should provide some pretty darn warm water.
  • Assuming you are right and I am blending cold water into the hot water side of the lines what would be causing that? p.s. do not know how to send picture
  • I tried to post a pic and a reply but the site won't let me in. I sent you a PM

EDIT: ....I'll try again here today to see if the forum will allow me to post a pic and a reply.....

( I heard from the OP via PM that he solved his water issue )

  • I suspect water heater in bypass or at least in partial bypass mode.

Here's how to post a picture.
