  • As all have stated , open the black tank valve. I usually dump first, and flush 2nd. In that order works for my TT. A cheapo water hose works just fine, most campgrounds in my area have the hose "they provide" hooked up to dump station water spigot. When I get home I spray my bleach/water mixture on the inlet spigot.

So the dump lasts about 5 - 9 minutes, and I flush 10 minutes usually.

Another thing too, I placed a decal near the black tank rinse spigot so as not to confuse it with the city water valve, mine are close to each other.

Go to a local campground or if you have a sewer connection on your property, practice in the daylight.
  • It's a connection used to flush out the black tank when you're dumping.

However, make sure you have a NON POTABLE water hose to do this. You never want to use the same hose you use to hook up to city water.

White is the usual color of potable water hose. Use a different color for the non potable water use. A plain green garden water hose would work.

  • I open the black water flush valve while the tank is emptying I attach my non drinking water hose to the flush inlet. After emptying the black I empty the gray water then close the gray water valve. I ten turn on the flusher and let it run for a few minutes then close the black valve and let it flush another 2 minutes then open the black valve and let it drain. The last thing I do is to close the black valve and let the flusher run about 1 minute then shut the water off leaving the last rinse in the tank. now I go back in and run one bowl ow water in the commode, drop in a treatment pack and let that go into the tank. In 23 years of flushing this way I have never had a poo pile or any other black tank problem. I might also add that I only dump when full even if I have to add water to fill it.

Not to be offensive but being that you are new to travel trailers, you should be bombarding your dealer with questions. thay should have shown you all the operating systems . Even if they did and you forgot , just keep on them.its what their commision is for... unless of course ,you bought it privatly..
  • technically it is not for "back" flushing. hopefully it is situated so that it will forward flush out the black tank. at least mine have always been located in such a fashion.

  • Yes, it's for your black tank. I use mine after I've drained off some of the tank to aid flushing it out. You can also wait until the tank drains completely, then flush. More than likely your manual will tell you not to use it with the valve closed, due to potential pressure build up, and the inevitable stories of people who forgot it and had the flood situation mentioned above. I really like it and would install one if it wasn't already on my fiver.
  • Black tank flushing is for attaching a hose (a non drinking hose!) to it, closing the black tank valve (on some systems you leave the black tank valve open) and you flush out the black tank
  • more than likely for the black tank and do not turn the water on and walk away. you will be very very very sorry if you do. it will over flow out the toilet and on the floor of the TT. so be darn careful when you use it.
