Like other posters said - if you're jackknifing then you didn't straighten your wheels out soon enough. Steer to get the trailer started in the right direction and then kind of straighten your steering wheel to follow through with the motion. It's hard to explain - you are right practice will help. Also - the shorter the trailer the trickier it is and more sensititve your steering input is.
Don't cancel your reservation because you don't think you can't get your trailer backed in - half the fun is learning and the experience. Maybe it takes you two hours to get backed in - years from now you will never forget it and probably tell that story to new RV'ers that you have to help!
Happy camping - wish I could go soon but my trailer is a frozen ice-cube buried in snow!
