First of all, congratulations on the TT. We bought our first RV of any kind last year, but I've been towing car trailers for years, so backing up isn't new to me. You guys will get the process down before you know it, and it sounds like y'all are being patient about it.
As mentioned above, I like to use the hand on the bottom of the steering wheel technique. My wife helps me back up, and here's a concept that's really helped us: When you're backing up and trying to turn the RV, you're creating an angle between the truck and TT. Once you get the angle you want, turn the steering wheel back the other direction to the point where the angle between the truck and TT stays the same. At this point, if you back up, the truck/TT will travel in that same arc. Until you can do this, the TT will always jack knife or straighten out too much. This would be really easy to explain if we were face to face, but hopefully that makes sense.
