When I am backing up and cannot see my wife, I stop and wait for her to appear. We still have some issues backing up as far as communicating goes, but we take it easy and don't rush it.
The only other thing I'll add is that if you get in a bind you usually have a pretty good resource in other folks at the campground. There's almost always someone sitting outside on the edge of their seat ready to throw their two cents in :)
It will be stressful, and you'll entertain folks a little, but after a while it will become second nature.
