That aside, you need to place it where you can see the axles, which means a license plate or above will be of little help. I put one in the hitch frame above the receiver which let me see the fiver wheels but only the hitch ball with a trailer attached.
To see your axles it will likely need to be below the receiver on the hitch which means you will want it to be waterproof.
