I don't get this? The Barth is all riveted, and all aluminum framing. The Barth has no welding anywhere.
It has a larger volume and more interior space. The edge the Avion has is its lighter weight, and better aero-dymanics. It would be easy enough use the same techniques used to build the Barth to fabricate an aluminum bottom section on an Avion--which would make it indestructible. - 69_AvionExplorerThat is similar to the Avion, but I like the Avion's riveted construction better. - SoCalDesertRid1ExplorerNice! I like it! :)
Form follows function, so if it looks 'utilitarian', that's just fine by me! :) - garryk6Explorer

Does the Barth camper have wood on the bottom?
Here is one guys restoration Blog that is actively rebuilding a 1967 Barth.
1967 Barth Blog
Here is his interior walls, very similar to the Avions...
And here is where the big difference lies between a Barth and an Avion...
It still uses wood in many places, but less than the Avions base.
And this is before he gutted the floor.

I love the foot spread on the jacks.
Keep in mind, the jacks back then were for lifting the campers onto a truck, not living in them on the jacks. - 67avionExplorer IIIts turning out that '67 was an especially good year for aluminum truck campers.
- Super_DaveExplorerI love the foot spread on the jacks.
- Bearsfanatic85Explorerthats very cool, The old units were not only well built and useable bu they had style, Interior pics?
- NightSailorExplorerI have one and have removed several edge pieces and corners. I will mic it out and tell you the thickness. Busy today plowing so I will try to find my micrometer and mic it out soon. Offhand, I'd say thicker than normal. I don't think hail would touch this. Once I fill with closed cell foam, it will be able to handle anything.
