Basic XL Super Duty Question

Does anyone know when they went with adjustable front seats on the XL Super Duty?

I had a 99 F350 and the seat was a basic bench with a fixed back. I know that they have gone to a split bench, even a 40/20/40, but I am having a hard time figuring out what year that started so I can begin my used rig search.

FWIW.. the new to me truck will be a gasser...

I just want another basic/relatively comfortable truck.

Thanks!

Jeremiah
  • I know the 40/20/40 split bench was available from at least 2003 as an option in the extended and crew cabs. I don't know about the standard cabs.
  • with the Oil Fracking business......

lots of Used late model F 250 and F 350 on the market... 2 and 4 wheel drive..

XL and XLT.... my 2012 XL has the 40-20-40 seat...
remember the newer Fords have road HOURS and Idle Hours in the information center of truck

my 2012 ... 138,000 miles has 4,100 hours of driving, so a Freeway truck
    and 600 hours of idling...
  • I don't know if cab configuration plays a role in which seat. My 99 crew XL is bench. My 07 crew XL is 40 20 40. Just bought a single cab 05 XL and it has a bench as well.

If you find a clean truck you can always change the seat out. Usually when you get to a certain age XLT or Lariet aren't that much price difference.
  • My 2004 F-250 Super Cab has bucket seats with a center console. The seats recline and fold forward.
  • You may get an answer here but a Ford forum will most likely get it quicker.
