billtex, I don't care to debate your post, but I disagree with most of it. "6V have always been deep cycle"? Your experience is different than mine.

Wayne, I am not aware of any 6 volt starting batteries-are you?
Outside of some very old Jeeps and VW bugs...I can't think of any vehicles with 6 volt systems.
Fork trucks, golf carts, floor sweepers, etc run 6 volt deep cycle batteries. This is the driver for 6 volt technology. 12 volt technology (and construction) evolved around starting batteries. Different power curves required for different applications. You might say 12 volt deep cycle technology was an "after thought"....consequently has not really caught up to 6 volt deep cycle technology.
It is NOT an opinion that 6 volt batteries as a rule have thicker plates, and therefore offer certain benefits for long term use (cycles)/slow power consumption vs 12 volt batteries.
There are good uses for both, but as a house battery, 6 volt would be the best choice for most. One case it may not be are for those that consume high voltage quickly for short periods i.e. inverter with microwave oven. The power curve by this type of use would be better suited by 12 v batteries.
Lot's of them.
