I hate to camp around anyone who runs a generator needlessly. Yes, get a battery, or two, or three.
You can operate just about everything except the cooling (A/C) from batteries if you set up your RV to do so. Then run the generator a little while at breakfast and at dinner to recharge the batteries.
We have one built-in generator and three portables but we don't use them more than necessary. Each of our trailers has at least two batteries.
