The trailer battery is used for many things. The refrigerator, the water heater, the furnace all require 12 volts in addition to the propane. If you have no battery in the trailer and you are not connected to the truck, or plugged in, none of these will work. The 12v wiring from the truck is usually only heavy enough to charge the TT battery when on the road. If you are depending on the truck battery to power the TT, one day you will find the truck battery discharged and you are out of luck.
