Have you considered a percolator coffee maker rather than an electric drip one? That way it will run on the stove, or even over the campfire, instead of using electric with the generator on.
Yes, that was one option we considered. We have a stainless tea kettle that we're hoping to use to reheat coffee on the stove, if we don't have the genny running. It would be REALLY nice to have a quiet hood fan for this.
For brewing, we figured if we are already going to run the genny to recharge batteries, maybe A/C or at least roof fan to exchange all the air, the coffee maker is about 5 mins for 12 cups.
If we set it up at night and turn the switch on after the generator is off for the night, we can hit the remote and make a pot in the am. Left overs for the first cup, then fresh brewed for the rest of the am stretch- unless we're headed out early for the day, then night brew and am microwave and hit the road ;)
Also- What about SECURITY for the generator if gone all day???
Specifically, what is the "acceptable" perimeter for the claymores in a campground? LOL.
We're planning a heavy cable that we use for the bikes around a tree.
