Yes the distribution panel is separate from the charger portion,that's why you can buy plug-and-play charger assemblies to replace that Elixer.
If it was me, I'd leave the Elixer as the power supply and add a deckmount charger in the front compartment. That involves a new 120V wire set and two battery cables to the batteries.

So the PD has 3 connections, 120v input, DC output from converter section to camper DC panel, and DC connection to battery?
Thanks for the information about the separate distribution panels. I've never had that part off or looked behind it.
