Well, after a couple of misfires- mostly due to water damages and such in the older campers we are looking at- we FINALLY brought a new-to-us camper home last night!!!
It's a 2005 Cougar 304BHS.
We really wanted the second slide for extended trips, and our TV will handle the weight.
We met a very nice couple. It is surprising how much they are just like us. They loved this camper since it was new and took good care of it.
Of course, there are things that need done. Some with age and wear and tear, some repair. But it all seems within my abilities, and we came to an agreeable price between us, accounting for them.
We also purchased a Champion 3100/2800 watt remote start generator for our trip.
So we'll be ordering another batch or two of LEDs to replace all the overhead bulbs, replacing the stove exhaust fan (which hesitates a bit when turning it on, so it's no-brainer), and likely any other lights we can do as LED.
We stopped in the eve on the way home, had driven many hours from 5am, and took a break in the camper. The furnace heated it up in no time at all, so perhaps the A/C will do the same? It seems well insulated, so maybe running the A/C an hour or two in the eve during our upcoming boondocking trip will be reasonable?
I'm pretty sure it is a single-stage charger and has a Group 24 battery. We'll have to figure something out there. Probably at least, different battery type. I'll have to go look at the model of the converter/charger, I don't remember what it is. LOL.
I have a fridge that is in great condition, except the cooling has failed and leaked. I plan to order one of the replacement cooling units and replace that myself (maybe have a buddy help with the lifting)
We considered upgrading from a 2652 to a 2852. As I understand it, there is only 6" difference in height and up to 2 cu ft difference in storage?
There appears to be plenty of dead space above the fridge area, only requiring a mod of the single cross-board/trim on the face side of the fridge, and a possible mod of the chimney (maybe?)
Unless both fridges have the same chimney attachment location/height? Anyone know about this?
Any opinions of the difference between the 2652 and the 2852? If I can find a failed 2852, I can order a cooling unit for the same price. If not, I'd be facing buying a NEW 2852 to get that option- likely out of our budget for now.
