Battery Security-Theft

While battery theft seams common sometimes I rarely hear of it from campsites. I had mine stole a few years ago from the front of my house. Funny thing is I had just gotten back form a hunt, and had my Charger on them to completely top them off before putting the TT up for the winter. I came out to go to work and saw the leads hanging down. They took the Batteries but left the charger. I know have a nice metal truck box that locks. In my box I could place up to 4. Right now I just run 2 6 volts and the other half of the box of storage of things lime my chalks.

My batteries are inside the cabin, inside a storage cubby, strapped down and bolted down with cable almost as thick as a lady's wrist... I suppose theives could take them using a battery powered angle grinder, but it wouldn't be inconspicuous.

Hopefully for the thieves my 150 lb malamute wasn't sleeping inside, as I'd hate to have the thieves sue me after getting attacked by him.

I have had a cooler of beer stolen and once when we came back from a hike someone borrowed all our wood pretty sure it was the idiots a few sites down who the night before had no wood and suddenly they had an ample supply.....

I have this lock and I really like it. Just some extra peace of mind. If your battery is close to the trailer like mine is it can be a little challenging to get the back piece in. But once you figure it out, you put the lock on it and don't need to deal with it until the end of the year. :)

Unless your battery dies quickly or something. In case of that and say you have a power tongue jack..back up close enough to plug in the 7-way so you can use the tongue jack to raise it up.

Although I've seen it mentioned often here on the forums I have no idea what an "and such" is :h and have never had one stolen. :W However, I do keep a cable lock wrapped around the battery box, a second run through the propane tank collars and around the trailer frame. As mentioned, not a guarantee but certainly a deterrent for anyone with sticky fingers. ;)

If you camp where they steal batteries, I think battery theft is your least concern.

Short of a locked metal box. I would add a lock to my plastic battery box. Just another level of difficulty.

I am not worried about batteries and such being stolen while camping, but I've already had a propane tank stolen while the rig was in the storage yard. The tanks and batteries are locked down now, with the batteries secured by the above mentioned lock.
