battery seems to drain way too fast: help

We can use some advice as we don't know much about the electrical system. we have a 1997 24 foot Terry travel trailer. Used to be able to last 3 days of average use on one battery. Now one battery won't even last 24 hours. I also have begun to suspect the battery is not charging when on the trailer and plug into electricity or on the trailer plug into the truck. I'm not 100 percent sure about that. But I am sure the battery seems to be draining very quickly when nothing is on/running in the trailer.
  • When you get that meter.........
With 120V AC power hooked up......disconnect battery cable (+) and read converter DC output. Should be at least 13.2V DC. IF lower then converter is bad.
Batteries not being properly recharged so they could now be bad.

Take them out...take to auto parts store and have them load tested.
  • my husband doesn't have a meter but I think we may need to get one. No lights on only the refrigerator which is on the automatic setting (gas or electric when plugged in) and the LPG detector.
  • Have you put a volt meter across the terminals while plugged into shore power? You should be around 13.8 volts when plugged in. Have you checked the water in the individual cells? If they are low on water it can resist charging. Is there possibly a light left on in a storage compartment?
  • It is happening with either of our batteries; one is two months old and one is about nine months old.
