There is a lot of truth in this. Many rv batteries are treated poorly as charging is not adequate and SOC is determined by the factory 1/3 2/3 3/3 gauges.
So does that mean someone who bought an Li battery after abusing an acid would suddenly be diligent enough to never let them drop below 20%?
If that's what's meant, I find that strange logic.
I think most people who abuse led acid batteries have no idea they are doing so. (read the link in last post)
Led acid batteries do not have a built in BMS like Battleborn batteries that will shut the battery off in under voltage SOC and control over voltage by shunting and eventually cutting off charging voltages at the high end. This makes the battery more or less idiot proof. User does not need to concern themselves with damaging the battery only in having it quit on them unexpectedly if they don't monitor SOC and usage when the battery shuts down to protect itself. Any SOC within the BMS usable range is not damaging to the battery, nor is irregular partial charging.
Many led acid batteries are unknowingly over discharged. By the time you get to that 1/3 led light on the idiot gauge you are most likely well under 50% SOC. There is no real battery monitor included with stock rv's
