Bed matt for Truck Camper

Hey All,

New to the forum and new Truck Camper owner. Have been an offshore sailer for the last 20 years and am moving to the 'land yacht' for awhile! Will be picking up a 2010 Lance 1181 in a couple of weeks. Going on a 2016 Ram 3500 Cummins DRW.

The previous truck owner was towing a 5th wheel. Truck has a spray in liner. I've heard that you should have a mat in the bed to help with padding and/or slippage. Wondering if there are any specific considerations or will a basic heavy duty rubber mat do the trick?

Thanks for any insight!

  • If the TC moves, it could gouge the spray liner or, overtime, wear through.
The purpose made truck bed mats as others said or a 3/4" stall mat.
Some people need the 3/4" stall mat for added clearance between truck roof and the cabover.
  • I haven’t really noticed that much difference compared to bed liner material although I do have a rubber mat. If you want something stronger, go get stall mats. It will take more than one.

    I have a DeeZee 3/8” type.
